The collapse of Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse recently was a catastrophe long in the making.
A quick perusal of the bank’s financial statements from recent years shows that we’re dealing with something analogous to a classic bank run. The Post Millenial reports that on Friday, Twitter released a portion of its recommendation algorithm on GitHub, a website where programmers can share and work together on open-source code. Recently, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been rolling out its Rural Route Evaluation Compensation System (RRECS).
The system came about after a disagreement between the USPS and rural post office workers about how much they should be paid for mail volume. RRECS was the resolution developed by the two parties and an arbitrator, with much of the language surrounding its rollout focused on its intent to “modernize” the postal system.

According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), there were 4,706 federally-insured banks and savings associations in the U.S. as of December 31, 2022. Of those, according to the quarterly report released last Friday from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), a little less than one-quarter found a reason to engage in derivative trading activities.
